ABOUT ME
Megan Jensen
Writer, Director, Producer, & Cinematographer
(she/they)
Megan Jensen is a director, cinematographer, and producer whose work typically focuses on queer storytelling in fantastical worlds. Growing up in Las Vegas, NV has profoundly shaped their artistic lens, influencing their worldview and challenged traditional perceptions of normality.
Megan finds the relationships formed through production, especially those made with other queer folks when producing, the most valuable part of filmmaking. Megan’s interest in producing came from wanting other queer storytellers to feel like their crazy ideas could be done, even at a low budget. Megan strongly believes in being a producer that not only believes in the concept but also relates to it. However, when it comes to cinematography, directing, or writing Megan loves to immerse themselves fully in the world of the film through what they describe as “method acting for pre-production” which includes themed playlists, moodsboards, and personal style.
Inspired by trailblazers like Jane Schoenbrun and Greta Gerwig, Megan focuses on telling stories that feel like real life, even with surreal settings or characters—whether it’s a world of plastic dolls or glowing TVs. Through their work, Megan strives to create a sense of community, both on set and with audiences. They hope viewers leave their films feeling understood amid the absurdity of modern life, encouraged to examine their own worldviews, and inspired to embrace the extraordinary.
